The praise keeps pouring in for young Warren Zaïre-Emery, once again breathtaking in PSG colours. After fading from view for several months in 2025, the French prospect is monstrous once more. At just the right moment.

While PSG once again got the XXL version of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia against Bayern Munich (rated 8 out of 10 by L'Equipe), supporters also feasted on a stellar performance from their eternal academy graduate, young Warren Zaïre-Emery. Like the brilliant Georgian, the Frenchman also picked up an excellent 8 out of 10, further confirming his return to the European elite. Just a few months ago, this was practically unimaginable for the Parisian, who had been completely lost.

Zaïre-Emery's first major setback

Thrown into the deep end of top-flight football at 16, Warren Zaïre-Emery quickly took on the role of the precocious prodigy. A midfielder, the Frenchman established himself season after season within a Paris squad packed with stars. With Luis Enrique's arrival, Paris refocused around talent and soldiers — exactly WZE's profile, and he was delighted to find himself in the Spanish coach's hands. But in 2025, just as the Parisian collective was firing on all cylinders to march across the whole of Europe, Warren Zaïre-Emery faced the first major setback of his young career. So much so that he lost his place in a Paris squad in full flow.

A break-up that did him good

In a relationship for two years with PSG women's player Océane Toussaint, Warren Zaïre-Emery saw the romance come to an end in autumn 2025. By happy coincidence, a few weeks later, the Frenchman started to rediscover his freshness and inspiration. And since this winter, the WZE beast is back… In Ligue 1 as in the Champions League, Zaïre-Emery has strung together top-level matches and performances. Against Bayern Munich, in the colossal two-legged semi-final, he was even the best player on the pitch alongside Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. At just 20 years old, his return to the forefront is staggering.

The perfect player

Hard-working, understated, versatile, powerful and determined: Warren Zaïre-Emery is THE perfect player. Luis Enrique is well aware of it, and didn't hesitate to lean on his jewel to fill in for the injured Achraf Hakimi at right-back. Wherever he's deployed on the pitch, the Frenchman shines and brings all of his qualities to the fore. While he was occasionally caught out by Luis Díaz, again in a role that isn't really his, Zaïre-Emery can boast of holding a leading position at PSG, no matter where he's playing. A player who could naturally lay claim to the same status with the France national team, under Didier Deschamps. His impact and level of play in 2026 are such that it would be surprising to see Les Bleus' manager do without him. After enduring his rough patch in 2025, Warren Zaïre-Emery has come back even stronger than before. With 181 appearances in Parisian colours, a second Champions League title within sight, and only 20 years old, the Montreuil native is far more than just a phenomenon…
